No musician can bypass Bach; no composer can either – that is a widely accepted fact. However, it is astonishing that many features of Bach’s music are largely tabooed in contemporary composition: tonality, pulsating rhythms, polyphony in the traditional sense, or thematic variation per se.
Since I am convinced that this does not necessarily have to happen, I have composed these pieces accordingly. In rare cases, even a dominant-tonic progression may creep up. From the bottom of my heart, I apologize for this. (Hopefully) this will not occur too often.
